My Inspiration
I love the beauty of clouds, which I believe goes unnoticed all too often. I am fascinated by their expressiveness, variety of color, shape, and texture, and attempt to capture their delicacy in my art. To me, the sky brings feelings of comfort and peacefulness that few other things can match. I want my paintings to convey this sense of calm to the viewer, and provide an opportunity to slow down from the fast lives we all lead.
My History
I am a native and current resident of the Chicago area. I received my BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004, with honors in the field in Art Education. For five years, I shared my passion for art with others, through teaching high school art full-time at West Leyden High School in Northlake, IL. I have been painting since high school, but have been doing art shows for 3 years. I currently live and paint in St. Charles, IL, with my husband and our son, and a variety of rescue animals.
My Materials
While I work in a variety of media, I feel the truths of clouds are best represented through the specific properties of oil paint. My work is traditional oil on canvas, both stretched and unstretched.
